As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’d like to share an intriguing tidbit about a captivating film that holds a special place in my heart. This movie wasn’t just any production; it was inspired by Priscilla Presley’s memoir titled «Elvis and Me», published in 1985 — a decade post her marital journey with the iconic rocker Elvis Presley.
Initially, at 79 years old, Priscilla felt honored that Coppola wanted to share her story. However, she pointed out a single inconsistency in the movie — the portrayal of her separation from Elvis.
She expressed her feelings by saying, «The conclusion was my main issue. I wasn’t entirely satisfied with the ending,» she stated. During an interview at MegaCon Orlando last Friday, as reported by People, she added, «Things didn’t unfold that way, and Elvis and I ended our relationship very amicably.
Presley mentioned that after their separation, she managed to maintain a strong friendship with her former partner. In fact, this musician occasionally dropped by her house unexpectedly.
She shared that despite some complications, our bond remained intact. To elaborate, he often showed up at my house without prior notice, and it so happened that I was seeing someone else at the time. Yet, he continued to drop in unexpectedly.
It was a relief that it was 2 a.m., allowing me to recognize the visitor, and I hastened to reach the door before he could press the bell. Predictably, he entered, leading us both into the kitchen where we engaged in conversation for several hours.
Priscilla shared that she discovered her husband had been unfaithful when she read letters from other women that were addressed to their home in Palm Springs.
She mentioned that a significant portion of it was similar to, «Oh Elvis, thanks for the invitation! Charlie Hodge [Elvis’ close friend] requested I attend and I’m thrilled that you welcomed me and my friends.» This is what she recalled from some letters she reviewed.
However, some instances were more straightforward. «Elvis,» Priscilla reminisced, «I had an amazing evening with you. I can’t thank you enough.» Instead, her thoughts turned somber as she sifted through the correspondence: «It’s deteriorating,» she recalled thinking to herself.
Presley expressed great pleasure when she learned that Coppola would adapt her love story for the silver screen.
The filmmaker, daughter of legendary director Francis Ford Coppola, phoned to inform her in advance about the upcoming movie and reassured her there was no need for concern regarding the film.
Nonetheless, as a supporter of Coppola, Presley expressed that she wouldn’t have fretted regardless. She openly admitted, «I admire her work.
From 1967 to 1973, Presley was married to the woman who sang Can’t Help Falling in Love. During this time, they had a child named Lisa Marie Presley together. Unfortunately, she lost her life in 2023.
At the age of 54, she passed away due to a complication called a small-intestine blockage, which occurred following a bariatric surgery she had undergone some years back.
Elvis was just 42 when he died in 1977.
He succumbed to a heart attack at his Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee.
Last month, Priscilla paid tribute to Lisa Marie on the two year anniversary of her death.
Priscilla posted an old photo of her child on Instagram, accompanied by a touching tribute following her passing.
Priscilla expressed, «My longing for you surpasses what words can convey. If only I could embrace you, converse with you, catch another glimpse of your radiant smile.
I so much wish that you could realize the extent to which you’re cherished and the profound impact your absence has on us. We hold you close in our hearts.» -Mom, she expressed.
